Temperature on Koh Rong Samloem

Koh Rong Samloem Island’s climate is relatively predictable and is dependent upon both the direction of the prevailing winds and its tropical location in the Gulf of Thailand

The winter months of December to March are generally the best with the weather coming from the north-east, bringing beautiful dry days with very little or no cloud, almost no precipitation, and lower humidity

In the summer months of June to September the weather comes from the opposite direction and results in stronger winds and more rain which is sometimes heavy and usually falls later in the day as the humidity grows

During the months of April and May both the temperature and humidity rise and rain in the late afternoon becomes more frequent while in October and November the humidity and rains start to tail off

Being so close to the equator the temperature is relatively high throughout the year and the mercury regularly reaches the mid 30s degrees Celsius in April and May with the humidity topping eighty percent in the afternoon

Sea Temperature on Koh Rong Samloem

The tropical waters surrounding Koh Rong Samloem are warm all year round and whether swimming, snorkeling or diving the waters never feel cold as even away from the shoreline the temperature rarely falls below 28 degrees Celsius

In the shallows, close to the shore, the sun’s rays are trapped by the water and the white sand resulting in significantly higher temperatures and the feeling of a hot bath

January sees the coolest sea temperature and it keeps rising until May when it peaks at around 31 degrees Celsius

November to March is the high season for sun-seekers with the months of December and January seeing almost permanent sunshine

From June to October the weather is more varied with the likelihood of cloud being higher although days with no sun are still few

March / April / May
Still very little rain but with building humidity and higher temperatures

June / July / August
Humidity rises through the day setting off spectacular thunderstorms that clear the air
